Self Proclaimed “Mr. NBC”, Adrien Broner, Is Not Receiving The Biggest Purse. Learn Who is.

Broner is hot on a two-fight streak thanks to unanimous decisions over Carlos Molina and Emmanuel Taylor, sure, but it wasn’t too long ago that Marcos Maidana knocked him down twice in an ugly, one-sided affair.

Budding MLB Star Lives In A Van Behind Wal Mart

He bought the van in 2011, a few weeks after signing his first contract out of high school with the Blue Jays, and the VW has been his best friend and his spiritual center ever since. He named it Shaggy after a character in “Scooby Doo.” He sings it songs and writes it poems and gives it Valentine’s Day cards. He takes it for hiking expeditions in the mountains of Tennessee and surfing trips along the Carolina coast. He drives it each year to spring training in Florida, and this year he stretched that trip out over a few weeks. He drove without a schedule from his home in Tennessee, avoiding the interstate and exploring the dirt roads of Appalachia, sleeping each night in the crawl space behind the driver’s seat with his head tucked against the back door. When he finally arrived in Florida, he parked illegally on the beach and camped inside the VW until local police evicted him and offered directions to the 24-hour Wal-Mart, his home ever since.

Hamilton’s signature look used to be pink polo shirts, pink headphones and a baby-face smile. On this day, he’s wearing a black varsity jacket, black jeans and a serious, well-worn look befitting both the years and traumas that have passed.
