Pistons’ Greg Monroe Denies He Has A “Done Deal” With The Knicks

Greg Monroe said he hasn’t “discussed anything with anybody” when it comes to where he will be playing next season – a direct contradiction of a N.Y. Daily News report saying Monroe to the New York Knicks “is about as close to a done deal as you can get.”

The Detroit Pistons big man was asked to respond to the report before today’s Palace finale against the Charlotte Hornets.

Monroe, who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, is growing weary of being the subject of the NBA’s rumor mill.

Gary Payton Explains Why He Thinks Russell Westbrook Is The MVP

I’m a little different about what the MVP is considered to be. I’m thinking that when a guy who has a team already, and has a lot of players on his team and they’re a front runner—that guy isn’t considered the MVP unless they’re putting up great, great, great numbers. Like [Anthony] Davis—if he wouldn’t have gotten hurt, I think he would’ve been the MVP in my book. They’re in the 8-seed right now, and I think they could [make that Playoffs], but that’s the type of basketball player I’m seeing as MVP, when you have numbers like that with points, assists, rebounds, blocked shots, and then you get your team in the Playoffs, that’s the MVP to me because you put that team in there.

But right now, the three that’s gonna be there are Westbrook, Harden and Curry. If I would have to pick right now: What Westbrook has done is amazing, what he did with the triple-doubles. I don’t like that he shoots a lot to get the points, but he’s done a great job. I would give him the edge right now, then it would be Curry, and then Harden. But you don’t know what’s gonna happen.

What Westbrook has right now in that team, he doesn’t have Durant right now. So this is the way they’re winning basketball games, with him [shooting a lot]. But the good thing about it is he’s getting assists in rebounds, too. He’s getting a triple-double. It’s a total game. So with the 43 [shot attempts on Sunday], I think that was a little too much last night. I think you’ve gotta get the other players more involved. When you [take 43 shots], you get everybody to watch you, and I don’t like the watching. You’ve gotta cut it down to about 25, 26 shots per game.

Nicki Minaj Shares She Thinks She Is As Great As The Men In Hip Hop

“I used to be so, so hurt by the way women are labeled as bitches—it would just make me angry. I would work around powerful men all day, every day, and their attitudes were horrible, but a man just gets a pass. He gets The Man Pass! The Donald Trumps and Kanye Wests and Lil Waynes can have a bad day, they can be cocky and disrespectful and arrogant, and at the end of the day we laugh at it. With a woman it’s always like, ‘Excuse me, how dare you?’ But I’ve always been a ‘Where there’s a will, there’s a way’ kind of person. I know I’m as great as the great men in hip-hop, in terms of being an MC. And I think, secretly, they all know! Your overall confidence has to come from within.”

Tidal Is Offering The Chance To Attend A Private J Cole Concert

To attract more listeners and users, Tidal is going to have to think outside the box. This is a good start. Tidal is offering users in New York City a chance to see J. Cole perform in a private, intimate setting. The five top NYC Tidal users who listen to the most J. Cole music between the dates April 11 and April 20 will be selected for the show that Tidal calls “Better than front row. Closer than backstage.” Cole has been active in promoting Tidal to his fans. Following his homecoming show at St. John’s, Cole hosted a special meet and greet for the top J. Cole Tidal listeners following the show. Based on his loyal fan base–evidenced by the big first week sales of his album 2014 Forest Hills Drive–listeners will surely flock to Tidal in an attempt to see their favorite MC up close and personal.

On Thurs (April 9) night, Cole returned to St. John’s University in Queens, New York to perform at his Alma Mater. Though he graduated from the school, the rapper never received his diploma after failing to return a library book or pay the fee. The powers that be must have been happy to have him back on campus because administrators waived the fee and finally gave Cole his diploma. “Tonight, I guess the let me slide,” he told The Village Voice.
