Alpha Industries Credits Kanye West For Increase In Sales

Pretty much anything Kanye West is seen wearing is guaranteed to sell out. Just ask adidas. Accordingly, Alpha Industries is crediting the fashion icon for a significant increase in sales of their heralded bomber jackets.

Bombers have been back in a major way over the past couple of years, with a slew of brands taking advantage of the trend and thus creating their own. Nobody arguably does it better than Alpha Industries, however, who were commissioned back in the early ’70s to make jackets for the military.

Currently, the company is reporting a 30-percent increase in revenue this year, in large part thanks to their must-have MA-1 Jacket.

Kanye didn’t just start rocking bombers recently, though. Alpha’s chief executive officer Mike Cirker revealed to WWD, “Kanye West’s team called us up two or three years ago before his Yeezus tour and said he wanted tour jackets for everyone. This was a year ahead of when the trend hit the runways so he was very forward-thinking. He bought 100 jackets or so from us and applied his own logo and patches.”

Ye has since had bomber jackets made for his YEEZY collections and can often be seen donning the popular style. West isn’t the only celebrity to get in on the fad, just look at Travis Scott, but he surely is one of the most influential, if not the most. Alpha Industries can attest to it.

Got the drop on High Snobiety . . .
