Jon Stewart to Return to Television on HBO

After 16 years as the host of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart stepped down earlier this year, clearing the way for his successor, comedian Trevor Noah, this fall. Thankfully, however, Stewart won’t be gone for long as it was announced today that the beloved host will be returning to television with a brand new four-year deal with HBO.

According to the official press release, the Emmy Award-winner has teamed up with cloud graphics company OTOY Inc. to develop “new technology that will allow him to produce timely short-form digital content” that will be available on HBO Go, HBO Now and other platforms. The deal also includes a first-look option for additional ventures in both film and television.

“Appearing on television 22 minutes a night clearly broke me. I’m pretty sure I can produce a few minutes of content every now and again,” joked Stewart of the deal. Though a start date hasn’t been announced, Stewart’s unique take on current events should hit HBO sometime next year.
