Nicki Minaj Makes Billboard History On R&B/Hip-Hop Charts
Nicki Minaj becomes the first female artist to chart four songs simultaneously in the top 10 of Billboard‘s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart (dated March 28), as “Feeling Myself,” featuring Beyonce, rises 11-10. Two males had previously achieved the record: Lil Wayne (first in 2008) and Drake (2011), each of whom has quadrupled up in the top 10 in multiple weeks.
Drake’s Entire Album On The Billboard Hip Hop/R&B Chart
Drake rules 42 percent of the 50-position Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (dated March 7), as the hip-hop star has 21 concurrent songs on the tally — breaking his own record for the most simultaneously charting hits in the history of the chart. (The new chart will be refreshed on Billboard‘s websites on Thursday, Feb. 26.)
Lil Wayne Has A Date For The Free Weezy Album!
In the meantime, he’s been putting in 12-hour studio shifts on an all-new project: the cleverly titled The Free Weezy Album, which he plans to release for free in March. “I’m working on it every day, man,” he says. “I guarantee it’s going to be something dope. If you don’t want a musician being creative, don’t get The Free Weezy Album.”
