Forbes’ Top 10 Fashion Brands

Forbes has released its rankings for the world’s most valuable brands in 2015. Covering everything from aerospace and oil & gas, to the media and retail industries, the comprehensive rankings rate each brand by their total value and brand revenue by one-year change in value as well as the amount the company spent on advertising, among other factors. At the top of the pack are major tech companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Google and IBM, with the top fashion brands being Louis Vuitton, coming in at 14th place, and Nike, at 18th place. Nike Close To Landing Apparel Deal With The NBA

According to reports, the details state that the agreement is close and that Nike and the NBA have completed the “necessary” framework that will be presented to the league’s Board of Governors today. Now granted the agreement seems to be closing in, according to reports, there is still some groundwork left to make this partnership a reality. The deal will take full effect during the 2017-2018 season and with the Adidas partnership ending shortly before and grossing over $400 million in 11 years, Nike is expected to surpass that number.

Nike Celebrates 30 Years of the Nike Dunk

The Nike Dunk is easily one of the most iconic models of sneaker history, tracing its roots all the way back to 1985, when it was first introduced. To celebrate its 30th anniversary,Nike has released a detailed outline of its story, from inception to the legend it has become today.

At the time, basketball had become a cultural phenomenon and sneakers were enjoying tons of off-court popularity, reaching as far as the fashion world. The first iteration was sketched by Peter Moore and was called the “College Color High”. It was an artistic mash-up of different silhouettes, taking cues from the Air Force 1, which had released three years prior. The traction design outsole closely resembles the one found on the Air Jordan 1, which launched just months before, and several other elements were taken from the Nike Terminator. Three decades later, the Nike Dunk remains as a classic in the sneaker community, recognized for its performance and street style. The Brooklyn Museum To Host An Exhibit For Sneakerheads

The Brooklyn Museum is set to host an exhibit for sneakerheads entitled “The Rise Of Sneaker Culture”. This exhibit will run from July 10- October 4, 2015, and will be held in the Morris A. and Meyer Schapiro Wing on the 5th floor. This exhibit includes 150 different pairs of sneakers from brands such as Adidas, Nike, Converse, Puma, and Reebok. This exhibit will explore the social history and cultural significance of sneakers by providing film footage, interactive media, and photographic images. Viewers of the exhibit will also see sneaker design drawings, technical innovations, and the marketing campaigns that helped shape the sneaker culture over the years. Nike Unveils New Elite 2015 Series

Today, Nike Basketball officially unveils the fourth annual Elite Basketball Collection, the pinnacle of the performance and technology crossover for the sport of basketball. Included is the LeBron 12 Elite, Kobe 10 Elite, and KD 7 Elite, with the trio releasing in three separate waves as we approach the Playoffs season. The Team Collection (April 18th), Elevate Collection (May 15th), and Rose Gold Collection (June 5th) will release throughout the Summer 2015 season, so check below for a full release details and stay tuned for an in-depth look at each model shortly.
