According to a press release, Prince’s song is a tribute to “all of the people of the city of Baltimore.”
It was recorded this week at Prince’s Paisley Park studio in Minneapolis, but it’s unknown when it will be released.
Prince is not the only artist speaking out following the uprising in Baltimore. Beyoncé posted a message on her Instagram account and her website, writing, “People are hurting.”
Last fall, rumors surfaced that Beyoncé and Jay Z were working on a joint album. And it appears that a 2015 release is inevitable.
According to DJ Skee, the highly-anticipated project is nearing completion and will be released exclusively via TIDAL, Jay Z’s streaming service.
This would not be surprising since TIDAL has already produced exclusives from hip-hop’s superstar couple. Jay Z premiered his “Glory” video earlier this month via TIDAL and Beyoncé debuted the piano ballad “Die With You” dedicated to her husband.
Anniversary gift exchanges between Beyoncé and JAY Z are always something big an extravagant. As her present for the power-couples seventh wedding anniversary today, Queen Bey releases a new song “Die With You,” which is dedicated to her hubby JAY. The songs video premiered today on Hov’s newly launched streaming service TIDAL, and in it, Beyoncé is seen suited in a Thriller t-shirt with her cap on backwards — performing a stripped down version of the song whilst behind a piano.
Today, Jay Z threw a launch event in New York City to celebrate the re-launch of Tidal, the streaming service he recently purchased. Win and Regine from Arcade Fire, Kanye, Beyoncé, Daft Punk, Jack White, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Rihanna, Usher, Alicia Keys, J. Cole, and many more artists were all on hand for the launch. It was announced that they are all co-owners of the service. After a speech from Alicia Keys, they all signed a declaration.
