He named his creative agency after her; closed his 2008 album 808s and Heartbreaks with a deeply profound statement addressed to her (“Goodbye my friend, I will never love again” Kanye said on “Coldest Winter”); described his recent single “Only One,” as his mother singing to daughter North West through him; and, of course, “Hey Mama.”
Now, video of Kanye and his mom rapping together in a kitchen has surfaced, and it’s sure to leave you in tears. Taken from an MTV special detailing the making of Late Registration, the clip features the two talking about a rap Kanye came up with, followed by the two singing “Hey Mama” together. It’s simultaneously beautiful and sad: another glimpse into a relationship that still means so much to Kanye.
