Marijuana Goes Legal At 12:01 AM In Alaska And Washington D.C.

America is getting greener every day. Voter approved ballot initiatives to fully legalize marijuana passed last November in Alaska and Washington D.C. This week they are going into effect. 

Up north in The Last Frontier State, Alaskans gained their cannabis freedom yesterday. In the nation’s capitol, at 12:01 a.m. tonight, it will become legal to possess and grow marijuana.

What makes things more interesting is that there are no retail stores opening anytime soon in either locality. In D.C. ,  Congress may also have a say.

Apple Is Dropping $850 Million On A Solar Powered Headquarters

 

Apple‘s new “Spaceship Campus” headquarters will reportedly cost nearly $5 billion take up 2.8 million square feet. So it ain’t nothing for the company to stunt with $850 million devoted to solar energy

Apple CEO Tim Cook says the company is building a brand new solar 1,300-acre solar farm in Monterey, Calif. The move marks a serious commitment to the environment and will provide significant savings to Apple over time. “We know at Apple that climate change is real,” Cook said at a Goldman Sach’s Technology and Internet conference. “The time for talk has passed and the time for action is now.”

Taiwan Plane Careens Into River, 23 Killed

Dramatic pictures taken by a motorist and posted on Twitter showed the plane careening over the motorway soon after the turboprop ATR 72-600 aircraft took off in apparently clear weather on a domestic flight for the island of Kinmen.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” a volunteer rescuer surnamed Chen said of the most recent in a series of disasters to hit Asian carriers in the past 12 months.

Television footage showed survivors wearing life jackets wading and swimming clear of wreckage. Others, including a young child, were taken to shore in inflatable boats.

GNC, Target, Walmart, and Walgreens Selling Bogus Supplements

More than half of American adults take some kind of herbal supplement, spending an estimated $30 billion a year in the belief that the supplements have some kind of healthful effect. And, of course, consumers think that what’s in the bottle is what the label promises.

But New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman says that belief is too often misplaced — and yesterday announced that GNC, Target, Walmart, and Walgreens were allegedly selling store brand herbal supplements that either didn’t contain the labeled substance or contain ingredients that weren’t listed on the labels.
