Director JR and writer Eric Roth have shared the first trailer for their new film Ellis. Starring Robert De Niro, the 14-minute short film tells the story of how immigrants searched for a new life in Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital, which saw around 1.2 million visitors since it first opened in 1902. De Niro plays an immigrant shot on the original location, with JR’s art installation serving as the set, which is based on photographs from over a century ago.

The film will premiere at The New Yorker Festival on October 4th, and tickets are available to purchase HERE.
