Video: Fans Injured at French Open by Falling Metal Sheet

Three spectators were injured during the French Open on Tuesday when a piece of metal fell from the scoreboard at Roland Garros’s Court Chatrier, the tournament announced. Their injuries were described as minor.

The situation delayed the quarterfinal match between Kei Nishikori and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for about 30 minutes. Fans eventually returned to their seats, the tournament said in a press release.

Video of the incident shows a long sheet of potential, roughly 15 feet wide, falling from the top of the scoreboard in one corner of the stadium. The sheet, which was covered in spikes to deter birds, appears to have been dislodged by the wind. The video also shows a flag waving stiffly.
