
The Seoul-based LCD panel manufacturer showed off the prototype at a press event in Korea yesterday as a way to broadcast its future plans, including that commitment to OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technology that LG brought up earlier in the year.
OLED screens contain, as the name suggests, a layer of light-emitting organic compound, which is what allows the screens to be both flexible and super flat.
It’s unlikely these paper thin TVs will hit the market anytime soon, but this does provide a glimpse into the innovations OLED technology can bring to home entertainment.
