“World War Z” Sequel In The Works, Brad Pitt Is On Board

After landing a nearly $200 million dollar budget in 2013 to release the World War Z, producer-actor Brad Pitt is readying an official sequel. The apocalyptic action horror film saw much commercial success at the theaters with $540 million in revenue, which was a no-brainer that an imminent sequel would be in the works. Paramount has now confirmed that the untitled sequel for World War Z has been dated for a June 9, 2017 release.

While the new second installment of the series has two years to be filmed, rewritten and re-shot, Pitt is set to produce alongside Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner. Coincidentally, the film will be going head-to-head with FOX and Marvel’s Fantastic Four 2 – also releasing the same date in 2017.
